NorCal is another state

Hello my friends!

I know that I've been bad at updating you all, but I've been busy.  At the moment I am in beautiful King City in SOUTHERN Montery County.  I started off living in Greenfield (which is the next town over) but after about a few months the lady that I was renting from got a little weird, so I found another room to rent in King City.  It's less then a mile from the hospital. It's pretty nice.  This house is owned by a older gentleman and he rent's the rooms out to travelers.  There is a nurse that also works at the hospital that lives in the next room over.  It's nice living with other people. I was getting a little lonely in an apartment all by myself.

This is my current dwelling!

In this little town we have a Rite Aide AND a Safeway!  And that's saying a lot! The hospital that I work at makes up for being in the middle of no where.  Everyone is so helpful and willing to teach.  Such a contrast to my last assignment, but like I've said before; Traveling is like dating!  At this assignment I get to do both inpatient AND out patient.  I see about 3-4 patients in the hospital in the morning and 3-4 patient's in the out patient clinic in the afternoon.  I'm learning so much that I don't realize it untill I sit back and think about it.  It's like I'm a sponge and and soaking up all I can.  I learn something great everyday! I love this assignment so much that I extended for another contact.  So I will be here till July 7th.  After that, who knows....

One thing that I had a hard time with was the cold.  It was so cold this past winter.  Let me tell you, NorCal cold is sooooo much different the SoCal winter.  I think the cold up here has more of a bone chilling effect to it.  I had a 15 minute commute when I lived in Greenfield and I had to leave the house at least 10 minutes early so that I could put on the heater and defrost my windows.  This was a new concept for a SoCal girl.

27 DEGREES!
So Much frost!

King City is about 45-60 minutes to the nearest big town.  So on the weekends I'm usually out shopping  and since I'm out that way, I make a day of it and travel to the beaches.  The upside  is that I am about an hour from the coast.  I ABSOLUTELY love the beach, If any of you are my Facebook friends, you know that I have an obsession with the waves.  I could just sit there for hours staring at them.

So what have I been doing these past three months?  Well I went hiking about two months ago.  There is a National Park near here and I went hiking with a coworker.  We went to the Pinnacles, which are enormous volcanic eruptions that created these mountain-like structures with caves.  We took a four hour hike that didn't seem so long.  But time flies when you are having fun!

The Pinnacles
Even though I am far away from town, I spend the weekends exploring.  Like I said, I love the ocean and there are many beaches to choose from out here.  Monterey bay is Beautiful but  I've yet to go the Aquarium, but that is next on my list.  I recently went driving up that way with a friend and had lunch on the Bay.

One of the best Bunt Cake's in the world!!
One of the best things that I have fond here is a church.  I like to stick with Calvary Chapel's because I know how they teach.  I like to say that Bible College ruined me for just any church.  I need to go to a good bible believing church, and unfortunately there not are many of those up here.  I was going to the Calvary Chapel in Salinas, but Salinas is about an hour away.  So I wasn't going because it was too difficult to get there on time.  So one day at work, one of my coworkers was looking at the local paper and there was an add for a Calvary in Soledad.  Soledad is about two towns North of King City.  So I checked out their Facebook page and found out that it was a church plant that was meeting in a house in Soledad.  So I went one Sunday about a month and a half ago and I loved it.  There are about 8 people that attend, that includes 3 children.  But it's a wonderfully intimate group of people.  I thank God for leading me there.

Well, that's all for now.  I'll try and update more often....

Until next time...
